Piccadilly Gardens Patrol Leads to Arrests for Sexual Assault and Disorderly Behaviour

The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood team were on duty this morning, carrying out patrols as part of their ongoing work to keep the area safe.

During the operation, officers arrested a male believed to be responsible for the sexual assault of a teenage girl yesterday. He is believed to have targeted a girl who was out celebrating her GCSE results. The suspect was taken into custody where he remains while enquiries continue.

In a separate incident, officers also detained another prolific offender in the gardens for being drunk and disorderly.

Sergeant Jon Wyatt of the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood team said:

“Sexual offences will not be tolerated in Manchester. We will do all we can to protect women and girls and to ensure that offenders are brought to justice. Our neighbourhood teams are out daily, working hard to keep the city safe and to support our communities.”
